I know that it's a little late for Ice Season this year, but I've fished that lake thousands of times over my life. I grew up less than a mile from the lake, and worked at the Boy Scout Camp in Mayville for 7 Summers.

The ice fishing, especially for panfish, can be fantastic. I had days on the ice with some buddies where we couldn't keep out lines in the water, we had so many perch biting. I've also had some significantly slower days. I don't think I ever went out on the ice and didn't pull something through the ice.

Long Point is a good place to start, as well as Burtis Bay. I never had great luck in Mayville, but I went out there periodically for Crappie, and hit them...just not the numbers that others seemed to have.

I also grew up on Chautauqua Lake, spent nearly all my time fishing when I wasn't working. We used to have our ice shanty right off Maple Springs most years. Good perch fishing along with some walleye there. Warner bar was a good spot for big walleye and in some spots near the lower end of the lake we had good catches of crappie through the ice.
