Re: Why no love for 7mm br

At 500 meters i could not consistently knock down steel rams at the silhouette game might poke holes in paper as good as the 6mm br just not what i was trying to do.

Re: Why no love for 7mm br

It's all about the quality of the bullets made...in the case of the .284 diameter--not much. You need to keep in mind that the quality of bullets were talking about for benchrest matches, 1000 yard matches, 600 yard and true benchrest 100-200-300 are not made by mass production, they are all made by small very very precise manufacturers to extreme tolerances not found by mass production. They are made for the most part in .243,some .264 and .308 and that's about it for the most part. Walk up and down the line at a true benchrest match of any distance and you won't find a 7mm cartridge being used by anyone and if you do find one it will be using berger or sierra mlk's..it's all about the bullets and nothing more. Those bullets are fine for hunting, silhouette or long range varmint but not up to standard for true benchrest...I can't even think of the last time I saw a 7mm anything being used at Williamsport 1000's or 600 benchrest.. I've never seen one used in a ground hog match other than in the factory classes.. So, it seems hard to believe for the average Joe shooter but it's about the quality of the bullets and nothing more..

Re: Why no love for 7mm br

I shot a 7 BR in highpower silhouette I used the 168 smk for rams and 130 smk for the c,p,t and it was a accurate round. I have not seen any 7br in the groundhog matches either, but I have been curious on how a 7 dasher would do in the groundhog matches. With the berger 140 gr and 168 gr. it should be interesting, It would be easier to see bullet holes and this would be a plus if the accuracy is there.

Dead groundhogs tell no tales!
