Groundhog matches

I am pleased to find this new forum. There are many benchrest high power rifle ground hog matches now being run by various sportsmens clubs in PA. These shoots vary from 300 to 500 yards to targets. Each club has its own rules. Equipment rules must be read. Many shooters are searching for matches nearby. Here are a few:

Can others add to this list?

Re: Groundhog matches

Anyone been to mifflin county sportsmen? Its close enough for a day at the range.

Re: Groundhog matches

Considering how much I groundhog hunt, I've never been a big fan of these matches. In my opinion they lose the essence of what groundhog hunting is. That's not to say that I don't applaud the people that do well at these matches. I just feel that calling it a "groundhog shoot" is a stretch.

Ive been there. Great range. I think the farthest shot was just a little over 1000 yards. Great benches. Great range. Had a great day shooting their. Easy access to targets with a dirt road. I would recommend it.

Re: Groundhog matches

Mifflin is a real nice range, target backers to 500 yards and at a 1000. Looks like their putting one at 600. The matches they have are real laid back and have the a real helpful and friendly group of guys. I shoot there a lot

Re: Groundhog matches

Along with Ground hog matches Ridgway has a 1000 yard benchrest silhouette match that is a ton of fun. Crows at 850, groundhogs at 900, bobcats at 950 and Coyotes at 1000 yards.

Here is a downrange picture of the silhouettes looking through a spotting scope
