Long range shooting is not for me, but these guys that put the time, money and practice in to make it not only doable, but ethical, have my respect. Congrats to the youngster, quite the accomplishment!

With a lot of practice during the year, and the proper power scopes (I'm thinking 25X) this type of shot can be made. If the shooter can't hit a 15"x15" target 9 times out of ten at distances of 600 to 700 yards.....every time, then IMHO this type of shot is very risky to just wounding the animal and not making a clean kill shot.

I'm not much for any type of rifle hunting that involves standing still, but THAT looks like fun. Sounds like the boy put in the required practice to attempt the shot. That's about double the distance I ever shot a deer.

What 12 year old wouldn't love that, given the opportunity.

That's awesome...
It's very obvious that they spend a great deal of time practicing.
Like any sport, the ultimate gratification is completing the task you have invested time and money into....
For some it may be hitting a home run or reaching 100 yards rushing in a football game...
These guys shoot and they are invested...
The Dad's reaction and joy was cool....
It's like winning your 1st championship....
