300 Whisper

Anyone have any experience with the caliber? Shoots a 300+ grain bullet just under 1128fps.

The difference between dreamers and achievers is action.
One try is worth a thousand guesses.

I've never seen a published Whisper load over 240gr.... but haven't looked at it in ages...
In my opinion, the Whisper, which did come first, has remained an expensive wildcat, whereas it's descendant, the 300Blackout (only minuscule differences in case neck dimensions and throat) has become an established workhorse that is lowering in price ever so slowly (factory ammo) each year.
I have 3 blackouts of varying action and length. Truly a fun and effective round, tons of available options for the reloader, and great factory ammo availability too.

Been shooting the 300 Whisper in IHMSA and NRA Silhouette plus suppressed hunting since JD Jones of SSK Industies developed the cartridge. My cases are formed from .221 Fireball brass. Probably reloaded 25 to 30 times and still going strong. Curious why you think it's more expensive to operate than the copied 300 Blackout.

"Expensive Wildcat" was more in reference to perception and "popularity" of the Whisper, compared to the relative commercial success of Blackout.
Reloading costs are even money.

I agree with Wingatchtochwil, as you can find 300 BO barrels everywhere and I only see SSK as a barrel source for the Whisper.

Buy what you want, but the 300BO does everything the Whisper does. I know with my subsonic loads and suppressor, my 300BO is very quiet.
