Any thoughts on the 6.5-300 Weatherby?

I am having a Winchester Model 70 rebarreled to the 6.5-300.
Just checking to see any opinions good or other wise on this cartridge.

Thanks, Mike

I've never shot one but it's got to be pretty awesome right?

Sure reads good, I don't expect I will shoot it enough to go thru the barrel life expectancy.

At one time the 6.5x300 wby was considered the best long range cartridge for Pa. deer hunting, with the components available today it is even better. I would recommend a 26" barrel minimum but would go longer if possible. I had a 7x300 wby with a 30" barrel and I liked it very much and always wanted a 6.5x300 wby but I never got one. Also with the 6.5 there are factory cases so no fire forming.
