oal question

on my 308 i have determined that the max oal for the bullet i am reloading is 2.845 but my magazine box constricts me to right around 2.800. is 45 thou too big of a jump? i'm trying to work up an accurate load but without hand feeding i dont see any way around it.

Now your diggin' where the 'tators are!

Re: oal question

No matter what you can't be any longer than the magazine will let them be....you never know about anything til' you get it on the bench ..

Re: oal question

Load it to magazine length and see how she does. I have loaded for a good many 308 bolt guns and AR's and have always found them easy to load for (not finicky).

Re: oal question

Try loading Barnes ttsx or any other solid copper bullets. They perform best with a .050+ jump to the lands.

That is a good starting point but the sweet spot could be more, could be less. As you work up loads, you can load single shot and bypass the magazine to find the sweet spot and go from there. Hope the Barnes works out for you.
