Ruger .264 win mag

So I'm new with shooting long range but I got a new 264 as a wedding gift it's never been shot was wondering if it's worth setting up for long range or leave it in shot an trade it in on some thing better I've herd mixed reviews on it any opinions thanks

What is better than a .264 Win. mag, no matter what you have there will be always something better. My advice would be to keep the .264 and learn how to shoot it. The 264 is a great caliber and has the cool factor.

Alot would depend on who gave it to you as a gift. You just may never hear the end if you
trade it away lol. But the 6.5 is a good long
range bullet and that cartridge wouldnt be a bad
thing to be starting out with. Realize that everything has its limitations, and its best to
always be in touch with what they are.

Impractical cartridge/rifle for competition. Great long range have to pay your dues which means a lot of intelligent practice at long distances and you must be an accomplished handloader...long range is subjective and unsure of how you define it...
