Tikka T3 .300WM and Berger VLD's

Due to the long throat on the Tikka, i have an overall Bullet to Ojive length max of 3.145 but cannot seat the bullet until i back off the lands to length of 3.030. Everything you read says to seat just off the lands and then move back to do a seating depth fire test.

anyone have any experience with this or any suggestions.

Well that's one of the problems with those long skinny bullets. First off unless your shots are past 500 to 1000 yards you not going to get much out of using them. You may have them out so far that they no longer will fit in the magazine, check that. Think about using them in a factory chambered rifle. Never worked on this manufacturer myself but I suspect it's to make sure you never reach the over pressure levels that happen when you shoot bullets that are seated into the lands or are using magnum cartridges, like the old weatherbys.
