So how far is your best kill shot in pa?

I built a gun for long range hunting but I never got a chance to take a long shot while hunting this year. I was just wondering how far my fellow pa hunters were taking game at?

631 laser confirmed on a ghog with a 223. Got VERY VERY close to one at 1100-1200 ish with my custom 284 covered him with dirt but close only counts in horse shoes and hand gernades and right now the ATF says i cant use hand gernades LOL. Its tricky to find safe long shots around here in lancaster county but i get lucky now and then

Deer at 850 yards I was shooting a 7/300 wby with 168 smk's I hit the deer through the lungs and it ran about 50 yards, the deer was ranged with a barr and stroud rangefinder. Also shot a groundhog at 600 yards with a 6.5-06 shooting the old 140 gr. smk's barr and stroud rangefinder was used again. I also shot a groundhog at 510 yds (lasered) with a 22-47 lapua using the hornady 80 gr, a-max. RobOz what gun and bullet did you use on the groundhog? I have shot at groundhogs at over a 1000 yds and came close but never hit one.

Many years ago (Mid 1980's)I killed a woodchuck at a distance just shy of 550 yards with a Savage 112V single shot 25/06 Rem. sitting under a fixed M8 12X Leupold. Best shot I have ever made on a woodchuck.

Re: So how far is your best kill shot in pa?

Range finder fluttered around 990 yards with my buddy's 7mm STW and missed one at 730. How's THAT happen right? lol My old .243 A.I. would flip em up in the air with authority and almost boring regularity to 600+. Wish I never got rid of that thing. My .223 has been a longest of 550 with 50 gr Bal CT's in my Encore P.H. bbl. and my .243 pistol bbl longest was 387 yards with 65 gr BT's.
