Leveling kits?

I want to level my 2010 Silverado, any of you guys have opinions on which brand and size to go with, any other tips or pointers would be helpful. Thanks

Re: Leveling kits?

I got a 2009 crew I just leveled 2" in front with a RuffCountry kit....in fact i just came here to find the thread i started when I did it because I finally took after pics...look for the thread to update shortly with before/after pics.

I love it...really feels like the truck it is, and I really think it is a smoother ride on rough roads. gimme a minute...

Re: Leveling kits?

I just put a 2" leveling kit on my duramax. It looks better and I needed the clearance to get 285's on it.I forget the brand but it was only 120 bucks. My experience with the ride is the exact opposite of R-B's however.Mine now has a much harder ride.

Re: Leveling kits?

dce, did you get the shock extensions? Or just the torsion keys?

A little more level kit discussion here..

Re: Leveling kits?

No.Just the torsion bar keys. It's ridiculous the way the GM'S come from the factory.Another 2 inches and a size or two bigger tires makes a huge difference. The 3/4 tons look ridiculous with 245 series tires on.I don't want to look like I'm 18 again but I don't want to look like I'm 98 either.

Re: Leveling kits?

I don't have a kit on my gmc but it will hold 265's with ease. not so high the wife struggles to get in but enough clearance its woods capable. i'm thinking on 2 inch though, shes getting herself a new-used car

if you bought it, a trucker brought it

Re: Leveling kits?

AMEN TO THAT!!!! My truck came with 265's, I think I am only going to go to 285s, at least if it stays the daily driver.

The mechanic that installed mine said without the shock extenisons my ride would be noticeably rougher because he would have to extend the shocks over an inch to make up the difference, making them stiff...he also only raised it 1.75" in the front, and not 2" since I told him I get pellets by the ton. Told me to test it out, we can raise it more easy if needed.

If I want to raise it to the 2" mark to achieve complete level I just need to SLIGHTY turn the two bolts shoeing on the new keys .. he said 1/4" of that bolt thread = about 1" in nose lift.

Re: Leveling kits?

I had a 04 2500 HD that I put 285's on.I just cranked up the torsion bars but I had to cut some of the front air dam off to get clearance. My duramax has a fiberglass air dam so I really couldn't do that.My truck won't fit in my garage with the 285's so I have to put 265's on during winter.Every GM 3/4 ton I've seen has come stock with 245's.I'm not saying none of them had 265's but I was never aware of any.

Re: Leveling kits?

They look much better with leveling kit, I can not say it helped, or hurt the ride. Here is a pic of mine.

Re: Leveling kits?

It will ride rough because the shocks will be topped out/ extended the whole way. The proper way is longer shocks.

Z71 trucks should have had 265's stock. They used to on the older ones to - '99.

All your doing with a 'leaving kit' is adding more preload to the torsion bar. The ride will be stiffer.
