Installed Step Rails Now Truck Sqeaks !!

A about a month ago I installed step rails in my 2012 silverado. They are AMS and attach to the Body Mount Bolts in three places on each side. After a week or two they started to sqeak. Only when the body of the truck gets twisted or I step on or off of them. Has anybody else ran into this issue?

Silicone spray should stop the squeaks.

Yes have come across a couple times.
The fix is to tighten again. Most likely had an odd angle when installed and now are a fraction loose. A quarter turn can make a vast difference.
Had it happen to the point we cut an inner tube and placed bolt through.

Can you leave the step rail in one piece when you loosen the bolt and retighten? If I would add neoprene or rubber how do I know I still have enough threads to keep body, frame and step rails together?

Yes you can keep step as one piece. Might want a second set of hands to help.
Never tried neoprene as the thinness of cut inner tube is helpful.

Re: Installed Step Rails Now Truck Sqeaks !!

Thanks for the quick response Deer Archer, Where exactly did you place the inner tube rubber? In between step rail mount and bushing or bolt head and step rail mount?

Step rail and bushing. The bolt head most likely does not have enough "movement" to cause the squeak.
