Question

I drive a 1997 chevy s10 5 speed and I got a check engine light today and it says po704 witch is clucth pedal position swicth, from what I've read online is that I can drive my truck with it like this and that swicth is just for safety right?

The swicth is just so the car won't start in gear if the clucth is not in that's all it does , I always start in neutral so I don't have to worry.
