Silver coins

Does anyone here have much luck finding silver coins with a metal detector? I have been thinking about getting one and trying it out but was curious if I would find much in the way of silver coins. Gold coins would get great too but that might be setting my sights a little high.

So again; who has found silver coins regularly when they go out?

Re: Silver coins

Absolutely we find them. The problem is that there seems to be a LOT less of them out there compared to coppers(wheats, indians). I guess the value made them a little more worthy of bending over and picking them up, compared to pennies......not to mention their easy to find, shiny color.

here are some random pics from my photobucket to show you

Re: Silver coins

That's what happens to 1983 and newer pennies when they are in the ground for a while. The zinc starts to rot away.
