Garrett Pro Pointer

Took a trip up to Presque Isle monday the 29thfor my daughter to swim at the beaches . I stopped into A 2 Z Detectors shop to get a sand scoop . While I was there , I ordered a Pro Pointer . It arrived wednesday on UPS . It seems to be built like a tank and seems to work great with the proximity sensor technology .

Re: Garrett Pro Pointer

They are very good but i still think the darn things are way over priced, shoot if i bought a new one i'd have almost as much money wrapped up in the pin pointer as i do my Compadre.

Re: Garrett Pro Pointer

I have to agree with you on the price . But , I'm still using a Whites pinpointer from the 90's . With my 7yr old and her friends ( HELPING ) me detect , I figure it's just a matter of time before it's broken . The Garrett looks almost KID proof . LOL Now if I can just get that tether put on it that LifeNRA posted , I should be good to go .

Re: Garrett Pro Pointer

My Pro Pointer works great but after about an hour the battery gets hot and it quits. Any ideas?

Re: Garrett Pro Pointer

Battery gets hot even after being turned off???? They carry a 2yr warranty, I'd call Garrett right away on that one. Heck in an hour, your pinpointer should be on/off more than 30 times or so on a good day. I've detected marathon days sunup to sundown and never had a heat issue with mine.

Re: Garrett Pro Pointer

Well 2 year warranty is nice with them but having to send the darn things back in everytime somethings goes wrong is not my idea of fun. You'd almost need to have 2 of them to get any detecting done if one goes bad.Been seeing alot of posts on other sites about folks having issues with them, not that i don't dislike them but there shouldn't be this many faulty units out there.

Re: Garrett Pro Pointer

I sent one back because I wore the button out (first generation) and it was prime detecting time. I explained that to the customer rep and she sent me a new one within 2 days, with return label. That way there was no waiting on items to pass in the night.

Re: Garrett Pro Pointer

I'll contact Garrett and let you all know what happens.
By the way, found a 45 nickel and a 42 wheatie around my friend old farm house.
