I Struck My First Metal!!!

First item dug out of my yard, 1982 penny. The 350 said it was 6 inches deep, it was darn close to that! The end of a clothes line pole, and three pieces of wire fence wrap! LOL! Its a start!

Re: I Struck My First Metal!!!

gotta start somewhere! My only concern is that a 30yr old coin was 6 inches deep. Clean fill brought in at some point?

Re: I Struck My First Metal!!!

I have no idea. I hit targets all over the yard! But I cant do anything until I get that Garrett tool. A spade shovel kills the yard. LOL

What I also found out is that Garrett PinPointer is almost a necessity! Took forever trying to find the one target I dug up!

Re: I Struck My First Metal!!!

Recovery time takes a fraction of the time and is a lot less frustrating with the pinpointer. I can only imagine what the spade shovel is doing

Re: I Struck My First Metal!!!

Well, I got my Garrett tool today. WOW! Heavy duty indeed. After playing around yesterday and realizing how long it took to find the three targets we did. I just ordered the ProPointer.

Re: I Struck My First Metal!!!

I use a very sturdy gardening shovel with long handle. The shovel is aobut 5" across and maybe 7 inches tall. I am able to cut a 4-sided plug thru sod, recover the target and place the sod back in the hole. There will be no sign that I was there the next morning. The long handle saves the back and knees.

Keep 'em in the ten ring
