First try!

Got a Garrett Ace 250 for Christmas and it's finally warm enough to try it out. Spent about an hour poking around my buddy's farm just getting the hang of things, found some junk, buried pipe, clothespin springs, that sort of stuff, but did manage a 1947 wheat penny. Not much, but not bad for my first time trying and not going at it very hard.

Where there are wheats, there are silver coins. Keep at it and welcome to the sport

Yup, wheaties always give some added anticipation for silver.

We also got out for a bit yesterday. Nothing exciting – a little over 3 bucks in clad. But after being holed up for a couple of weeks, it was great to get out and do some dirt digging.

Re: First try!

I had this genius idea, that the area under the clothesline might be a good spot since the line had probably been between those two old trees for decades upon decades, and change might have fallen out of pockets. Problem was, clothespin springs also set off the detector.

Re: First try!

your idea is right on track. You need to weed through the garbage to get to the gold

clotheslines
main entrance walkways
path to old outhouse
large old trees

Go to where the people or kids would have gone often and you will be rewarded.
