Need some Metal Detecting tips!!!!!

i am new to metal detecting and i need some tips. i wam wondering where the best spots ae to metal detect at. i am also looking for a good website where i can find old maps and stuff so that i can do some research and find better places to metal detect. i have an ace 250 and if you have any tips on that machine i would really appreciate you sharing any tips that you can.

Treasurenet,Freindly metal detecting,Finds,Treasurequst.You'll find a ton of info. on any of them as well as here but being this forum here is rather new it's kinda hit or miss with questions ans answers.

spots: carnival grounds, schools, churches, old houses. anywhere people had a reason to gather.

old maps: pennpilot.psu.edu

research: treasurenet by far!

ace250 I can't help you with, sorry. only used whites and minelab.

As 4c said, all good spots to check out. If there are old trees and/or rock bluffs on the site hit these areas hard. From my experience people tended to be drawn to these places. Old spring houses are also productive. Have found many of 58 cal dropped bullets and eagle buttons in these spots.

Gun Free Zones are dangerous!

For maps, I use this one alot. It has some neat features - especially the slide feature to compare old aerial and topo maps with new aerials.
