Precious Metals & Minerals

Anyone ever pan for gold or do some mineral picking in PA with any luck? Not looking for locations, but just stories/pictures of successful outings.

Not only is my short-term memory horrible, but so is my short-term memory.

I tried panning on the river, found some flakes of gold. Was fun but not you would have to work a long time for a gram, maybe never get enough.

just seen this after i posted the same thing lol. I have been wanting to go out and give it a try. Seems like northwestern and northeastern pa would be the place to try according to glacial records.

Re: Precious Metals & Minerals

tried once in Lebanon County,
but not sure if I got Skunked
or if fineness coupled with Eyesight,
caused me to think I failed.

while detecting a site in Schuylkill county
a year or so ago, after cleaning my finds in a gold pan,
I decided to pan out the dirt from my finds,
and surprisingly had color in my pan, however since the site
was a ball field on a hill, with no water flow near,
I could not be sure what I had.

IF I can find my post on the Net yet, I'll copy the pic and post it here for your judgement

I just started panning with no luck yet, try searching your area for clubs, even check out the GPAA.
