My points

I know nothing about points, but here are the few I have on my wall.

My Grandpa found these on a small local farm he owned from 1928 to 1944.

The other day, I got permission to Metal Detect this farm – just need to wait for the corn to be harvested. As I’m swinging, I guess I also need to keep my eyes peeled for points. It’s wishful thinking, but it would be neat if I could dig something that has a direct link to my Grandpa.

An amusing side note: My Dad was born in the farmhouse on March 2, 1930. Apparently it was rather cold in the house that day, so they put him in the OVEN to keep him warm. I wonder, do modern ovens have a separate setting for keeping babies warm?

Re: My points

My buddies dad was born premature and he was also put in the oven. I remember being told that story when I was a kid and the first picture that came in my bead was a baby in a baking pan. I guess that they did do things differently back then. Cool arrow heads btw.

Yeah, things are different. Today, if someone were to put their baby in an oven, Child and Youth Services would be banging on the door, stomping and screaming like banshees.

Good luck in your search on your grandpa's old farm.

Re: My points

Best time to hunt a field like this would be in late winter just after the thaw when melting snow will expose more soil and wash away some of the corn husks deposited by the harvester.

Good idea. You’re probably right, but I probably won’t (can’t?) wait.

Actually, since this place is less than 2 miles away, I plan on hitting it with the MD whenever I have “the need” and not enough time to go to any other site.
