To polish or not?

Just wondering if you should polish and clean up coins? I was wondering...

If you are talking about collectible coins, you should not polish them, it lowers the value of them.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

For the clad and newer penny's I use a Harbor Freight rock tumbler and some cheap aquarium grave. Cleans them up great. The silver and older coins I don't really fool with them other to wash them off. If I think it's worth more I'll let the experts fool with it.

Never, ever clean or polish coins unless they're in uncirculated condition and there is a need to clean them. The patina on old coins is expected. When you remove it you remove value.
