Sifting Gravel Bars for Points

Does anyone have any experience sifting gravel bars for arrowheads/points? I am looking into building a floating sifter out of PVC, pool noodle, and hardware cloth.

I know of several fields along a creek that used to yield points, but the fields no longer get plowed annually. I would like to try arrowhead hunting and figured the best way to hunt this spot is in the water.

Any tips or tricks for creek hunting? Do gravel bars closest to little feeder creeks and streams yield better results?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
