Got Permission for New Property

I stopped to talk to a farmer who was plowing today to ask about bringing my daughter over with her metal detector. He gave us permission for around 200 acres in Cashtown, PA. This is right by where the confederates marched through to Gettysburg. It's also a good area for arrowheads!

We don't have a pin pointer yet. And until the other day she was the only one with a detector. But she was talking to our friend the other day who happened to have a detector that was not being used and she gave it to me! Now we can cover even more ground!! Can't wait to try it out.

Get familiar with the detectors, always ground balance. Dig everything, In the end it will pay off as you continue to return to the same property. Even if it chatters a good tone mixed in with a not so good tone. I have had this happen to me coin's and ring's next to a nail, pull tab, foil.

I would invest in a good pin pointer. I like and use the Garrett pin pointer. It will save you time and not knowing where the object is in the plug, you end up tearing the plug looking for the object and i like to put the plug back in the hole in 1 piece make it look like it was never dug.

If you haven't been detecting for awhile or just starting out be prepared to be sore the next morning.

Have fun take plenty of pictures, memories last a life time. Happy Hunting...
