No I found it in my Grandfathers house close to 20 years ago it was uncovered in his basement when he had his foundation redone he retained most of the coins that were with it but gave me this 1 for finding the jar in a pile of dirt they had wheel barreled out into the yard
From everything I have read about it it's a restrike made by the guy who got the original die there were only 500 restrikes made I would like to find a collector to have it authenticated and appraised I know nothing about old coins except for gold and silver and I have tons of old coins from digging and threw change finds but no clue witch ones have collector value other then the melt value
You will need to get it weighed. If it's silver, you are dealing with a true restruct half. If it's the white metal re strike, not so rare. The white metal will be lighter and won't sound like silver when dropped on table or jingled against modern coins.
looks like there is a good chance it is worth a few Big Bills
your best bet is to try & find someone who knows their stuff & you can trust.
don't let it go for a song & dance from a complete stranger
