First Colonial with attempted picture

Found my first King George colonial half penny tonight. It's toasted but I can make out "Georg" on the left side and part of the lower bust on the front of the coin and the lower part of the seated lady on the back. I can only make out two 7's in the date (x77x) making it around 100 years older than my oldest so far (1878 indian head). Unfortunately, I can only make out the letters/numbers while using a loupe, hence the reason for not pictures.

Re: First Colonial

sadly our PA soil isn't usually friendly to the real old coppers. Many of ours are just copper discs with, as you are seeing, one or two numbers/letters to let u know what they are. Either way, congrats on an oldie!

You can very clearly see the shoulder area lines of the outfit being worn, and how it matches to the better example you posted. Nice.

Re: First Colonial with attempted picture

Very interesting find. Where did you find it? Just a general idea...around where an old building was? I have a metal detector (Whites XLT) but never really knew where to look for something that old.
