Questions about some old wheat pennies.

Hey guys, im not a "treasure" hunter by any means but i do have a couple jars of old coins that ive collected over the years.

A buddy of mine was at the house a little bit ago and we got on the subject of old coins. I got out a jar of my wheaties and he picked through them a little bit and kept a couple out that he said was of "interest". I donk know how much he knows about this stuff and i deffinately dont know anything.

Maybe you guys could give me some insight on these few,
It would be greatly appreciated.

First off is a 1909 wheatie, no mint mark, the back of the coin is in pretty good shape considdering the year, the head side is decent as far as the stamping but it has some gouges in it from who knows what? Second i have 2 1920s with no mint mark, in pretty nice shape. 3rd is a 1915 s marked, in pretty decent shape, and last is a 1932 with no mint marks, in good shape.

Now i know i have no idea about coin "grades" when i say decent, that means all words, stampings are 100% readable and all edges are still fairly sharp, what do you guys think, possible worth? Or is he full of crap? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Re: Questions about some old wheat pennies.

The 1915 s is the most valuable coin you mentioned. I looked at the red book (a book used to determine a coins value) and in g-4 condition (heavily worn with the design visible but faint in areas, many details are flat) it is valued at $20. On your 1909 turn it over to the reverse side and look at the very bottom of the coin at 6 o'clock. Can you see the letters vdb? You may need a magnifying glass as these letters are very small. If the letters are there it could be worth $10 if not then about 3.50

Re: Questions about some old wheat pennies.

The big dates to look for with wheats are 1909 s with the vdb on the back. 1914 d 1922 and 1931 s. Also anything pre 1916 with an s mint mark is worth hanging on to.
