Recording video ipad or iphone

I'm want to record my entire process for both hot and cold smoking salmon and trout to help a friend learn smoking.
It is a several day process and at first I was thinking Go Pro but am wondering if there is a setting or a good app for either an iPad 2 or iPhone 7 that I can start and continue and make 1 complete video?
Thanks!

Apple has iMovie (on your iphone/ipad) which would allow you to splice them together. You could also could use Window Movie Maker.

Please, please, please if you use your phone to record, hold the phone horizontal. Nothing is more annoying as watchin a video someone filmed on their phone by holding the phone vertical, creating those huge black borders on the side.
With that being said, I use an app called Filmorago. I have an android. Not sure if they have an app for iPhone. I use the app to edit and join different clips taken with my phone. I even use clips from another app to create videos for one of my YouTube channels. Here is one of them.

I like that. I heard that the Game Commission stocked those there to eat the geese.

Lol...be sure to upload that video here. I'd be interested in seeing how you smoke trout

stumbled across this over the weekend and find it very useful for taking optimum pics/video on your iphone...
https://iphonephotographyschool.com/

I had no idea the quality video you could switch to on the iPhone like
1080p HD @60fps or 4K at 30fps

May actually use my phone now instead of my camera for hunting season.
