Today, I have been officially diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a rare neuro-muscular disease. I've known I had it for about a month now, but I wanted to wait until officially diagnosed before saying anything. I guess part of me was hoping the tests were wrong. They weren't.
Well, this disease wreaks havoc on my muscles, causing them to tire quickly, and I do mean quickly. I can't enjoy a meal with my family because I can't eat after 5 minutes of chewing, and swallowing becomes very hard. The good news is I've lost over 30 pounds in a month. I have finally been okayed to take the drug Mestinon that helps it. I'll let you know how it works. One thing that is really aggravating the heck out of me
is that I cannot draw my bow. It's only set on 60 pounds, but I just cannot draw it. I'm hoping the medicine helps though. But what I would like to know is does anyone know anything about this disease, or anyone with it? I read about it on the web, and I learned a lot, and I know with the medication, it is not fatal. But any info anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
