Almost 2019! goals

New year is rolling upon us quickly. Anyone have goals for the year? Get in shape, healthy, etc????

I for one am determined to find something fitness oriented to compete in. I have way to competitive of a personality to not challenge myself and try to win at something.

My goal is the same as last year's, to regain all or most of what I've lost since 2004.
Guns are now just shy of 18"(useta wuz 19) , grow'd back into 2XL shirts and last week managed to squeak out three sets of two rep 445# dead lifts. Weight wise at 6' I'm still hanging in the 240ish range but still losing baby fat. On the downside the grocery bill is on the rise!

What's ya all thunk of a seventy year old goat trying to regain some of his youth?

I need to go back. In mid September I got consumed with hunting and stopped going to the gym. Fortunately I didnít put on too much extra weight but lost all my gains. Wife and I are going away next weekend. Plan on starting back up when we get back.

Getting back in the swing is always the hard part 3 days in you will be back into the grove I bet. spent most of December "bulking" I find it mentally hard to eat bad or over eat to gain size. Taking water out of the equation I probably put on 5-6 lbs in that month 3-4 muscle. Now I think I am going to get into competition shape in the next 16-20 weeks.

I'm trying to break 10:30 on the 1.5 mile run. My best time is 10:36. I do a lot of road running and do not use a treadmill. As far as the gym, my days of wanting bulk and mass are long gone. I focus on "1 minute on" of reps of lower weight for definition instead, but I try and switch it up often. You have to keep the body guessing. Lots of focus on my core as well.

After being diagnosed with two herniated discs las year, I received a cortisone injection and it did wonders. Keeping belly fat off, continuous strengthening of my core, running and lots of stretching have all done wonders.

I am really struggling. Every day I say this is going to be the day and then I get home from work feeling exhausted and still have a few hours before the kids even go to bed. I know all it takes is going back to the gym a couple times and I will be invested again. Itís just those first couple steps that are always the hardest for me.

Motivation is hard sometimes. It's just getting there once, Not letting that moment slip away. If it's something you deep down really want that is all it will take and that once turns into twice then three times and before you know it you have enough time invested you don't want to lose that investment.
