I'm trying to break 10:30 on the 1.5 mile run. My best time is 10:36. I do a lot of road running and do not use a treadmill. As far as the gym, my days of wanting bulk and mass are long gone. I focus on "1 minute on" of reps of lower weight for definition instead, but I try and switch it up often. You have to keep the body guessing. Lots of focus on my core as well.
After being diagnosed with two herniated discs las year, I received a cortisone injection and it did wonders. Keeping belly fat off, continuous strengthening of my core, running and lots of stretching have all done wonders.
