Had a pipida exam a few weeks ago...my gb is shot, only working at 8% so it has to come out. I see the surgeon on thursday....my question is what kind of tests have to be done before he does the cutting? I think i am having the laproscopic kind, i dont have gall stones
What she said. Mine needs to come out but I have been putting it off for over a year. Had the HIDA scan last year and I was at 21% ejection fraction... no stones, just a little sludge for me. I have been able to control it somewhat by taking fiber pills every day and not pigging out on the rich/buttery/fatty foods.
If I do get it done (did have a mtg. with the surgeon over a year ago), I would choose the robotic laproscopic surgery. One, 1" incision in your belly button, out patient, in and out and back home in 6 hours or less, usually.....
Might want to check into the availability of that out that way. I think it was the "Da Vinci" robot they were using for the surgery.
Having mine out next Friday the 12th. Surgeon is having me stay over nite, it's just his policy. He is also taking a biopsy of my liver cuz the ultra sound showed some fatty tissue on the liver. This kinda scared me when he used the term "biopsy'. However...I had a CAT scan done of all my internal organs last week and everything came back normal. I am assuming if anything was wrong with the liver the CAT scan would have shown it...
had mine out about 10 years ago or so. my GB was full of what the Dr. said was like sand. no stones. still blocked the duct to the stomach and caused a lot of pain. best to get it removed as it can get infected and burst. then your really in trouble. have to flush insides out to get cleaned out. it can also get gangrene too. most can be removed in one days stay in hospital.
All went well...stayed overnite...doc told me to eat, drink anb be merry. No lifting fr 3 weeks...all i can d is walk as much a i want...no powerwalking...hands aee swollen and little if any pain in my gut...think i may have lucked out
