Just started lifting again

And I was quickly reminded that, after leg day, going up the steps is about as hard as climbing Mt. Everest. I feel like a newborn giraffe.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: Just started lifting again

My mother in law got me a six month membership to a local gym. I'll be starting Monday. I split about 20 logs with the maul yesterday. I'm pretty sore today. I'm not looking to throw around heavy weight because I'm getting too old for that. But, after losing 85 pounds, I could use some toning up.

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.

Re: Just started lifting again

Last time I was lifting, I was trying to get ready for a season of carries. I expect to be sore, but it's ok. The only thing sore are the muscles that should be, instead of joints. I almost got on a treadmill yesterday, but the girl on the elliptical in front of it moved while I was doing my last lifts. I decided against treadmill work then.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: Just started lifting again

you don't need a gym...all you need is an ax, maul and a wheelbarrow and nearby hills.

You want me to put my ear to the ground? Listen for hoof beats? Look for broken twigs?

Re: Just started lifting again

i spent a lot of time in the gym over my life and there is no substitute for farm-type work.

You want me to put my ear to the ground? Listen for hoof beats? Look for broken twigs?

Re: Just started lifting again

True, but weights aren't the only think I try to pick up when I'm at the gym.

Re: Just started lifting again

I remember when I started tossing iron how sore I would get. Everything seemed to hurt but my eyelids and toenails.

Move ahead a few years I had to take almost three months off due to traveling for that nasty thing called "work". When I got back in I figured I could start back where I left off. WRONG! A day or two later my bi's and quads felt like they were being rip'm out by the roots. Walking and eat'n was downright painful!

So I know what you're going through....been there, done that!
