Re: Neuropathy??

My dad had it. He was diabetic, which is what caused it. I don't recall him taking anything for it specifically, but he was on so many meds he may have been taking something for it.

I just wanted to wish you the best of luck in dealing with it. Sorry I couldn't really be helpful.

You really under estimated the ramifications of the boondoggle you have just perpetrated!

Re: Neuropathy??

Its bad.I deal with injury related Neuropathy from severe nerve damage to my leg and foot. I take 3600mgs of Gabapentin (Neurontin) a day. It has been the biggest challenge to an injury that had me in a Hospitals/nursing rehab centers for four months. It's hard to describe a pain that is from a limb that is pretty much numb.

I feel your pain, Rob.
I'm maxed out on Gabapentin and Lyrica. Although a diabetic, A1C numbers were always good. I have idiopathic neuropathy in both legs and hands. Idiopathic meaning, they don't know where it came from. You might want to try Lyrica too.
Good Luck

I have it in both feet from Diabetes, and I think I'm getting it in my hands but not as bad as my feet. I take 75mg Lyrica 2x per day and that plus wearing slippers and shoes around the house helps alot. Going barefoot is murder.

If you can, get your A1C under 6. It can get worse.
Remember, Gabapentin will work too, when you get maxed out on Lyrica.
Good Luck

Re: Neuropathy??

I take Metanx for my feet...2 pills a day. Most never heard of it but it's like a super vitamin mix from what I've reseached. Helps relieve the burning, stinging with my feet.

I'm glad it is working for you.
I tried it a year or two ago.
No luck. But different meds affect different people, some help, some don't.
Good luck.

Re: Neuropathy??

Feet started tingling (pins-n-needles), then numbness from mid-foot to the toes. This was a couple years ago. I was thinking circulation simply from age progression. But my ma is diabetic, so I went for tests. No diabetes, circulation was great, back MRI was ok (I have back troubles), but the nerve test showed issues. Blood-work showed I was a tad low on B Vitamin, but not really enough to make a difference. Neurologist said sometimes you just never know the cause, but I have it. Was told to manage it the best I can. Today, my feet are almost solidly numb from middle through the toes. It has essentially put an end to any stand type hunting in cold weather, as I cannot take the cold in my feet.

Didn't realize neuropathy was as common as it seems.

Re: Neuropathy??

Fleroo,
Sounds like idiopathic neuropathy. Not fun.
Go with the lyrica and gabapentin for starters.
I hate to say it, but it only gets worse.
Good Luck
