Took out my 8 year old son on Saturday evening. We sat in the blind for about 2 hours before we saw anything. That was just about his time limit. He was complaining about everything....he's hungry, tired, has to go to the bathroom, bored, etc. I was just about ready to send him to the car, when we started seeing deer. Finally, after an hour or so, a doe and 2 fawns slipping our area. He put up the 7.62x39 and, using my knees as a rest, squeezed off a shot. I could tell immediately that it was hit. An 85 yard shot and a 20 yard recovery. Don't know who was more proud, him or me.
You can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin it once.
