Re: Evolution of a MY

My point with this thread isn't to brag. It's simply to show that young kids are very capable is given the chance. It's also to show how important it is to get them out there as early as possible before they get sucked into the left wing progressive movement that's destroying this county and our youth.I try to beat into my kids that the simple things in life are what matter the most.It doesn't get any more simple than being in the outdoors. Thanks for the kind words keystoneman.

I agree with this 100%. I've been taking my son with me to our cabin since I got it when he was 2. He started tagging along with me when I would go hunting last year at age 5. We went a couple of times and I always made it about him - we often times would sit for 5-10 minutes before he wanted to go for a hike, throw some rocks, or head home to play. It was just repetition, and allowing him to start to develop that interest in the outdoors. This year we went a couple of times and he's making it an hour or so. Our last trip a couple of weeks ago he made it a full 3 hours and actully saw the buck that my brother in law shot with his bow run down to us and go down about 10 yards from where we were setup. It wasn't my buck, it wasn't his buck (he doesn't hunt yet, just tags along - soon enough!) but it was my BEST day hunting yet. I saw his eyes light up, I saw the light bulb go off, and the monster hug he gave my brother in law, it's all he talks about now. He helped to field dress the deer, and stayed up well past his bed time helping us butcher it that evening.

Keep on keeping on DCE!

Don't Tread On Me is what it says and I'll take that to my grave.

Re: Evolution of a MY

That's what it's all about. You just need to get them interested and it doesn't have to be easy and it doesn't have to be about the kill.If they just like being out there, the success will just be icing on the cake. It's hard to describe what awesome years you have to look forward to.
