Re: Youth and Mentored Youth Hunters Success Thread

My daughter Jesica is off to a great start two years in a row. Last year, opening day she harvested a nice 8 point and this year, on the first Saturday at 8am she harvested this brute of an 8 point at just 10 yards. It has an inside spread of 19" and she harvested the buck with her Rem. 760 GameMaster 30-06...Im soooo proud of her.

Um..yep...Thats dads buck...could have swore it had both sides...LOL

Re: Youth and Mentored Youth Hunters Success Thread

The son came through Tues morning. This guy was walking like he had a purpose and strolled right in front of us. Now he is 2 fer 2 fer 2. 2 years, 2 buck, 2 bullets. Rem 700 25-06 that he won't give to me for some reason..... 100 gr hornady moving about 3100 fps. He hit back a little took lung and liver but the buck ran for 150-200 yards.

The daughter had to wait till Sat to be 4 for 4 for 4. Marlin 30-30 with 125 gr Sierra Prohunters @ 2200 fps. Home grown reduced recoil. She took him at about 60 yards and he piled up in about 20 yards or 2 bounces.

Every day you see it on the news. Another felons life needlessly spared by inaccurate fire.

At just six years of age it likely will be a few more years before my little guy gets the green light to cull the herd but we plan on learning and enjoying every milestone along the way ...

Here is a pic of my buddy and his 2 sons, Slate and Landon.

This is Slate's second gobbler. Last year, he killed his first gobbler when he was 7, and also killed a very nice buck with the crossbow.
