First Squirrel

After a frustrating first year last year of nothing but misses, the Wee Man finally connected on his first squirrel this morning. We hunted behind my Uncle Howie's place and lucked into a big fox squirrel. I think God sent this one. It came up to within 10 yards and sat there looking at us while Wee Man fumbled with the rifle and getting it set in the sticks. After the shot, it jumped about 5 feet in the air and took off. I thought he had missed it at first but when it didn't come out the other side of the multi-floral rose thicket it ran into, I figured it was dead. We found it in short order and my little guy had his first harvest. He got two shots at another fox squirrel a little later on but missed. We saw several others that didn't provide a shot. Nothing could dampen his enthusiasm, though. As a bonus, we saw 7 deer as well. Here's the Wee Man with his trophy......

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.
