Keeping Sparrows out of your bird feeders

I found this trick online and thought I'd share it. I had lots of trouble with sparrows, the English, also known as the house sparrow, cleaning out my feeder in no time flat. I put weed wacker line on my feeder in several places. I'll be a son of a gun if it didn't work. Most of the other birds it doesn't bother at all. It does give finches a hard time, but they get used to it. Haven't had a sparrow since.

Thanks I'll have to try it when I set the feeders up.
Also that's a neat looking feeder looks like a built in funnel on top.

Thanks for the chuckle. I couldn't help but laugh at the irony of a thread giving advice on how to keep birds out of a bird feeder lol.

Yeah it is a little ironic, I chuckled as well, sparrows will clean out 5 lbs of seed in a few days. That can get expensive after awhile.
