Stone veneer

I have an older house. I want to wrap my chimney, which is exposed on the inside of my house with the stone. My chimney feels like it is concrete and it is painted white. What would I have to do to attach the stone to this area?

Re: Stone veneer

you need to put metal lath over your chimney. It is probably not concrete but more than likely hard kote (plaster). You can use roll form nails to attach the lathe (can be purchased at any commercial building supplier), or hammer drill and tapcons . then you will use your thinset and set the stone. finish with grout of your choice

Re: Stone veneer

Does this also apply to a wall in my house. It is lathe and plaster. If I use the metal lathe and attach it to the studs?

Re: Stone veneer

Yes use a long screw, be sure you hit studs! cover with the thinset, and set your stone.
