Reloading Bench II

Didn't want to infringe on the other thread.

Basically I was in search of a plan for a reloading bench that was roomy and sturdy. Someone posted plans in the Reloading Forum last fall. Looked to fill the bill pretty good.

Problem is - I am CHEAP.

My FIL had a large heavy duty packing skid in his shed. Something industrial was shipped on it...

Now it is this:

Cantilever base. Need to put one more piece of plywood across the 2x4's where my bags are and move to the other side. Still putting the basement back together after another project.

Press is mounted on a sandwiched 2x10 covered in luean (sp).

Back is made of all the lighter lumber off the skid. The metal rack a donation from a good friend.

Main area is 30" x 69". Oddball dimensions, but it is what I had to work with.

Sturdy and it all breaks down if I need to move it out of the basement. I think 12 screws and lag blots do it.

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

Re: Reloading Bench II

Isn't smoking while you reload a bad idea?

Nice setup though!

That was a plant. No smoking area when operational. Been a while since it was. That to be fixed soon.

Actually, I had just finished uncovering it as it was the catch all point during a basement rehab project. Prior the dust and more dust... the brown was white. The tools and other clutter took a while to get through.

Re: Reloading Bench II

The link to the Ultimate Bench in the link above was basically how I built the table top. The thing isn't that heavy, but sturdy as a rock. Well worth the time to ;look over even if you decide on a alternate size or design. Scale the basics down and get a good sturdy base.
