Does anyone have any ideas on a tactful way to store a canoe outside? Currently it is sitting in my yard killing the grass. I would like to store it somehow where it wont look tacky and I know its supposed to not be in direct sunlight. What have others done?
I will take pics of my set up for you. Overhead storage with one end that is on a rope and pulley to drop down. Mine is under the carport. It weathered winter with no issues. Better, it cost about $10 to make plus a bit of time.
Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.
I've been storing a Wood canvas canoe for years. Despite the 'on-line' community saying hanging would cause structural damage; I've been hanging this one since 1974 w/ no damage...We did alot of things the 'on-line' guys didn't agree with and it is still a sweet canoe!
4 nails and two 4' or 5' sections of parachute cord w/ small bowline tied in each end. If you have two tall helpers you can set it up in minutes.
I'm able to slide one end in and pick up the other end and hook one loop on one nail and done!
Hang it right side up and you can store paddles & life jackets inside...
I had it mounted on a wall [no insulation so the bow and stern plate had room] when I couldn't get room on the cieling. It spend 10 years hanging in my Mother In Law's garage awaiting restoration...
