designing tree stand

Hey guys, Im thinking about designing a new hang on tree stand. whats everybodys favorite things about their tree stand? or what is something you would love to have built into your tree stand?

go with a ladder stand design, love just climbing up the ladder, sold my climber years ago

i would normally use wood as its easier to build,but since I have a full metal shop at my house I think I will be using metal. more reliable and strong I would think

Comfort. If I hang a stand, it's because it's way back in. Those way back in spots are for long hunts so comfort is most important. Weight of the stand doesn't matter much since I'll be carrying it twice a season. I love these little $40 hang ons on the market now, but they are not comfortable.

It's a good spot. Just not today.

@archeryman - great looking plans - did you cut corners, other than all word rather than tubing (makes it more perminent, no?)

I didn't build it for myself, but for a buddy of mine. Used 16 foot 6x6's buried 3 feet into the ground. Framed it a little different too, but basically followed that plan. Pretty sweet! Hope to have enough land someday to build one for myself!
