Address marker

So the county is changing our address for the 911 service, (how 186 Gotschal Rd is any easier to find than 236 Gotschal Rd is beyond me, but I distress....).

Wife has been looking at Stine markers with address numbers on them, but they are not tripping my trigger....any ideas for a unique marker?

Neighbor has large mountain stone with number carved in it. But you can not read it well at night.

Maybe this link will help?---> Interstate Sign Products
Not unique, we purchased the standard, 6" x 18" green Reflective Address Sign.

When the county named roads and changed addresses around here for emergency services , our address changed 4 times. 4 times and we live on the same property, same house.

I've done re-addressing for counties for 911. The numeric address is usually a unit of fraction of a mile along a named road. This way first responders can estimate how far down a road an address is.

Yup what he said! Contact your local fire or police dept & buy one of the reflective signs so they can actually see it & find your house in the event of an emergency

York county did that nearly 20 years ago. Changed names of roads, renumbered places, not much confusion for us, but lots of headaches for some folk. Apparently, when township officials handed out addresses, the numbers were not always in order or even uniform. My next door neighbor has a street number that is about 30 numbers out of order from where he actually is. He should be 901. instead 901 was given the the neighbor along the end of our driveway and it goes 905, 909, etc and the next door neighbor has 931. In fact the house numbers here go 891, 897, 895, 931, 901, 905, 909, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Makes no sense.

When they did it here there was also instructions for how/where the sign had to be placed. No enforcement followed. You know how people will read instructions. Feel sorry for emergency services looking for some houses in the middle of the night.

When Ontario went to 911, they supplied the post and sign. They were to be installed at the end of each driveway....very easy to understand and uniform. Nice way to accomplish it. I was 2.5 miles from the nearest road...and got one provided. Someone dropped it off and leaned it against the camp. They sure had their act together up there!

check with your local fire dept. or e.m a., they sell them for fundraisers. they make them up for you. 6 x 18 seen at night by headlights or spotlight or flashlight. also check local hardware stores or home improvement stores but you make them up.
