finish for exterior wood - oak

I have an oak bench i want to finish for the cabin porch. What finish will hold up the best? Marine varnish, Polyurethane?
Should i treat it with a wood preservative first?
Want to retain some of the old wood grain look.

Marine varnish is the best to use for outdoors. Polyurethane like Minwax is NOT an exterior productNo need to treat with preservative. Varnish will give wood a dark amber color
