Propane refrig trouble shooting.

Need some help on an RV propane refrig. I hooked up a 20lb tank to it, via a regulator off a gas grill. I dont seem to be getting gas into the fridg, Im wondering if the regulator is the issue. I would think that without anything on the end of the regulator and I turned the gas on at the tank, the gas would come out very rapidly, that is not the case. Anyone play with one of these?

Re: Propane refrig trouble shooting.

I used to have trouble with spider webs in the gas line clogging the orifice at the fridge. Take off the orifice and blow compressed air through the hole in the opposite direction and also through the line. (Obviously disconnect from the regulator first) Seemed strange that spiders could live in propane, but it happened. Is there a thermocouple that regulates the gas at the fridge. Could it be bad? Replaced a number of those as well. My biggest problem was getting the darn thing level so it would work properly. Propane refridgerators get pretty finicky about how level they need to be.

I pulled the line off before the thermo coupler, didnt have any gas there, still not certain Im getting the gas pressure I need. This is the 2nd regulator off a propane grill that Ive tried that doesnt seem to put out near the gas it should.

Re: Propane refrig trouble shooting.

Found that out when we had our Terry trailor. Fridge had to be level to work.

Just a thought...grill regulators usually have a safety feature that shuts off the flow if it's too great.
