I just cut a large black walnut that was hanging over the house. The main trunk is about 20 inches in diameter, two feet from the ground and to 15 inches in diameter thirty feet up. Already started cutting it into blanks for turning bowls, candle sticks etc. Any turners here? I'd be interested in swapping for some other kinds of wood.
BTW: Bodger is an old English term for a wood turner
Sounds like a big ole tree to me. Bet that will make some fine pieces. I just got into the hobby/obsession myself. Don't have much for trade, but would open to buying whatever you may have laying around.
The bowl coring system I use is Oneway. Pretty simple and straight forward to use. I have no experience with the other systems unfortunately. If you have any questions regarding the Oneway let me know.
