Stuck ignition key

My daughter lives In Tennessee and last evening she called to say that she can not remove the ignition key from the steering column of her car. She has tried moving the wheel while turning the key and has made sure the tranny is in Park. Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening and what she can do to remove the key? BTW, the key can be turned but will not start the car.

Good night Chesty, wherever you are......

Re: Stuck ignition key

It could be a dead battery. I'd see if lights come on. Also she could put parking brake on and try jiggling gear shift to be sure it's all the way in park. Or tap LIGHTLY on the end of the key with a light hammer if it's a stuck tumbler. She may also have to try turning the steering wheel with more force while turning the key.

The older I get, the stronger gravity becomes.
