Since we are allowed to bait for deer in MD, I have a lot of empty 50#
Shelled corn bags.
Took one of the bags and started stuffing it with plastic bags and
After about a month, the bag was full and pretty tight.
The key is to stuff the bag as tight as possible.
I use this bag I front of my regular archery target and it helps to
Slow down my crossbow bolts.
When the outer bag gets shot up or starts to decay b/c of sunlight,
I slip the entire target into another empty 50# bag.
I use those tarpaper nails with the blaze orange plastic collars
As my "targets"
They work very well and are cheap.
For years, I have used 4 x 8 foot foam insulation board, cut into 2 x 2 foot pieces, from one of the building supply stores. Sealed on the ends by masking tape. Add paper between boards to increase thickness and stopping power.
I make a mini-target which I can carry into the wooded area with the bow/arrows.
Make the target thick enough to hold the shots, but light enough in thickness to carry the target to the range.
