QDMA Seeks Managing Editor

Managing Editor

The Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Managing Editor, a staff position in the Communications Department. This is a full-time, salaried position based at the QDMA National Office near Athens, Georgia.



Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related communications field and two or more years of paid experience in writing, editing, or other communications.

Duties & Responsibilities

QDMA’s Managing Editor will assist the Editor in producing all of QDMA’s communications, including Quality Whitetails magazine and other publications, the QDMA Web site, e-mail newsletters, social media, and press communications. Duties will include:

-Editorial planning and research

-Writing articles and blogs and creating other multi-media content

-Managing freelance article and photo contributions

-Photography and videography

-Press release writing

Requirements

-Excellent writing and editing skills

-Excellent research, fact-checking and reporting skills

-Extensive deer hunting experience

-Knowledge of the QDM philosophy

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

-Proficiency with desktop publishing software such as QuarkXpress or InDesign

-Proficiency in digital photography (video and still)

-Experience with Photoshop

-Mac user

-Strong social media experience (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.)

-Awareness of and strong personal support for QDMA’s mission

-Solid understanding/appreciation of hunting and wildlife conservation

-Flexible, adaptable and able to work in a team environment

-Strong attention to detail and able to multi-task effectively

QDMA National Headquarters near Athens, Georgia.
