Re: Deer Density and Carrying Capacity Workshop

We're having one of these in Susquehanna County too. To be held at Woodbourne Preserve on April 16. Already signed up for another educational seminar. Too bad we couldn't study this stuff in school!!

Gal, if you PM me with your email, I'll send it to you. I can't get the form to post here. I'm suffering from computer illiteracy issues today!

Re: Deer Density and Carrying Capacity Workshop

The info should be found on Penn State Extension under Deer Density and Carrying Capacity Workshop. This is to take place at The Woodbourne Preserve in Susquehanna County. It should be listed under "Upcoming Events" but is not on the site yet. Same deal as the Ortanna workshop.

Re: Deer Density and Carrying Capacity Workshop

One word, OUTSTANDING!!!! I recommend this workshop to anyone interested in deer capacities and habitat. A morning of classroom work with a lot of info and an afternoon of field work!! We'll be using this on our property. Good job PSU , TNC, PGC and QDMA!!

Re: Deer Density and Carrying Capacity Workshop

The data collected from the study showed a deer herd density of 38.8 deer per square mile. Just looking at the forest and lack of quality regeneration and the amount of heavy browse, you could see the herd is well above the carrying capacity. A job well done by all involved.
