Habitat work day on SGL 219

Our Susquehanna Branch of QDMA will be joining the PGC F&C Corps for a workday on SGL 219 on the Bradford Co/Susquehanna Co border. We will be working on Saturday, March 5. We will most likely be once again day lighting fruit and nut trees. Meeting place and more details will be posted here as we move closer to the date. THX.

Re: Habitat work day on SGL 219

Here's the plan, we will meet at the PGC building at Reagan Rd/Coburn Rd in SGL 219 at 8:30 AM. We will head out from there. The decision of where and what we do is dependent on how much help we have. If we have plenty we will cut trees and drag brush onto piles. If not we will be just dropping trees. If you are coming you should have gloves and eye/ear protection if you will be dragging brush. If you bring a chain saw you must also have a helmet/ear protection/facemask set and a pair of chaps or you may not use a chainsaw an PGC property. Hope to see some new faces there.

There will be some guys from the NEPA RGS joining us too. This project benefits grouse/woodcock and other small game too, not just WTD.

Re: Habitat work day on SGL 219

We had a very productive work day on 219. We arrived at the shack at 8:30 and were on site and cutting by 9:30. There were 6 guys running chainsaws and 2 stacking brush. We dropped a LOT of trees to open up the forest floor and help create singing grounds for woodcock. The forest floor will wind up filling in with blackberry/raspberry and goldenrod. Perfect habitat!! We finished up at 3:30, tired and sore, but happy in how much we accomplished. A special thanks goes out to TIMBERDOODLE for coming out and lending a hand. It was good to meet you and we'll stay in touch for future projects and for some bird hunting this Fall!!

Hopefully Timblerdongler didn't try out the "singing grounds" while he was there ? They say his vocal chords leave much to be desired.

Heck I thought you were more on the lines of Roy Orbison and Carl Perkins?? You do move like Elvis with that turned up collar and logging chaps.
